Mr Rameshchandra P. Panchal
December 4, 1944 – March 26, 2022
Dear Family, Friends and Community Members,
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Shri Ramesh P. Panchal, son of Late Shri Purshottam and Jamnaben Mistry, on Saturday March 26, 2022 in Richmond Hill, Canada. Rameshbhai was the loving husband of Smt. Indu Panchal (Billimora – Honest), caring father of Malay and Trupti, and father-in-law to Alexander Smit and Abhira Panchal; and gracious Grandfather of Jaiden, Ayaan and Pranav. He is survived by his brothers Ishwarlal, Diliplal and Shashikumar of Los Angeles and Calgary, and their respective families; and his sister Manjuben and her family in India, along with a large extended family in India, US and the U.K.
Rameshbhai was an outstanding human being who loved to be active, creative and helpful to others. He was courageous, outgoing, curious and worldly. Rameshbhai was born and grew up in Mazagoan, Mumbai. After marriage he lived in Fiji and then moved with his family to Canada in 1975. Rameshbhai always thought of what others needed, and offered his wisdom and support to people in his community, with a friendly smile and big heart. Among his notable merits, Rameshbhai taught his children to pursue their passions, persevere and be helpful to others, and has helped countless families transition after migrating to Canada from India.
Ramesh excelled in many sports in his younger years, such as karate, badminton, and track and field. Until his later years he remained active in Yoga and Pranayam practice, and often bested his family playing carrom, table tennis and snooker. He loved to sing both privately and publicly, and took the opportunity to share his love for music and singing to bring people together and forge life-long friendships.
Rameshbhai served as President and trustee of the Panchal Samaj, and took an active role in many social and community activities. In 2010 he was honoured by the Mayor of Toronto for his contributions to community services. He was also honoured by the Canadian Government in 2010, 2013, 2014, and 2015 for Outstanding Volunteer Community Services.
Rameshbhai will be deeply missed by his family and friends and the many people he connected with around the world. Please join us in honouring Rameshbhai’s life. The funeral details are as follows:
