Shamir Panchal
Over the past years we have recognized the talent and achievements of the members of our community. We are also very lucky to have youth in our community who have excelled in various fields and therefore believe that they should also be recognized.
Here is one young star that fits right into thatcategory – Shamir Panchal, son of Kiran and Rekha Panchal.Shamir is a graduate in Architecture from the University of Waterloo and is currently pursuing his Masters in Architecture at the same university.
Upon completion of his Bachelor’s degree, he spent 8 months in India working on sustainable housing for a major architecture firm in Mumbai. Here he was recognized by his colleagues for the work done to help the poor and underprivileged. Although this was his first visit to India, he felt right at home. When he returned from India, he joined a small entrepreneurial firm in Toronto working on novel designs for housing in the King West subdivision, before commencing his Master’s Program.
Shamir has been an avid Tabla enthusiast for many years. He helped open the Toronto Tabla Ensemble, under the leadership of his Guru, Professor Ritesh Das, a world renownedTabla Master, and has performed widely in Canada and the US. Besides teaching beginner and intermediate Tabla classes to students of all ages at TTE’s Mississauga Branch, Shamir has participated in many public recitals and has won many awards.
Shamir is also very artistic and has helped the Samaj on numerous occasions with booklet and poster designs, and has also participated in a variety of program items.
Always smiling and ready to help, Shamir is a bona fide recipient of our Youth Pride of Panchal Samaj. On behalf of the Panchal Samaj of Ontario, we would like to wish him all the success in his future endeavors.
